Naagarahole also known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park is situated to the southwest of Mysore at a distance of 90 km
from Mysore. It is spread in an area of 643 sq km and covers both Mysore and Coorg districts. It is the best maintained Tiger reserve of
Karnataka. It has been included in the project Tiger of the Government of India. It is the largest protected area for Asian elephants, spotted deer,
Sambar deer, Leopards, and Tigers. The entry of vehicles is banned between 6.00 pm and 6.00 am. The forest department of the Government of Karnataka
organizes safari inside the National park twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If it had rained the previous day the safari would be suspended.
Irpu water falls lies about 20 km from Naagarahole. It is situated in the Bramhagiri mountain ranges bordering Coorg in Karnataka and Kerala.
Irpu is the water falls of river Lakshmana thirtha that takes its birth in the Bramhagiri mountain ranges and flow east wards and joins the river Cauvery.
The sight of water cascading from a height of 70 feet is eye catching. The best time to visit Irpu is during monsoons.
Talacauvery is the birth place of river Cauvery. It is situated at a distance of 42 km from Mercara/Madikeri.
The river takes its birth in the Bramhagiri mountain ranges situated at a height of 1,276 meters. It is the most sacred river for the people of Coorg. The river
will not be visible throughout the year. It takes birth on the 17/18th of October every year. The day is celebrated as Tula sankramana/Cauvery Sankramana. It
flow beneath the surface of the earth and shows up in Bhagamandala, where it joins the other two rivers Kannike and sujyothi.
